Prime Video’s Goodnight Mommy film, a remake of a 2014 Austrian film with the same name, looks suitably terrifying. Don’t believe me? Check out the trailer above.

If this trailer is any indication, Goodnight Mommy is a movie that will not encourage sound sleeping. The Matt Sobel-directed horror film stars Naomi Watts as the “Mommy” (who also has charred black flesh under her peelable skin?!), real-life twin brothers Cameron and Nicholas Crovetti, and Peter Hermann.

Here’s the film’s synopsis:

When twin brothers arrive home to find their mother’s demeanor altered and face covered in surgical bandages, they begin to suspect the woman beneath the gauze might not be their mother.

This, of course, isn’t Watts first foray into horror. In 2002, she starred in the remake of the Japanese film, The Ring. She also starred in the pilot of a Game of Thrones spinoff we’ll never see—one that reportedly took place ten thousand years before the events of the original series.

While we’ll never get to see Watts play her GoT character, we do at least get to see her give a terrifying performance as a bandaged, not-so-nice mommy in this upcoming Prime Video film.

Get ready to be terrified when Goodnight Mommy arrives on Prime Video on September 16, 2022.
